All right, so you’re just learning to program, and you would like a simple language to see how you like it. Well, Yabasic, a free (now open-source) dialect of BASIC (Beginner’s All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) is very simple. It took me about 10 minutes to go over a tutorial, and 5 minutes to write my first program — which isn’t very complicated by any means, but still fun!
One disadvantage is the inability to create standalone programs — but as Yabasic is very small (about 200 KB), you can distribute it along with your program!
